Lady Jay Dee was born Judith Daines Wambura Mbibo in June 1979 and is also known an Binti Machozi. Lady Jay Dee is a popular female Afropop singer hailing from Tanzania.  

History and Influences:

Voted Best Tanzanian female R & B artist in 2002, she has performed at the Kora All African Designers competition walking away with best R & B Album in 2004, and in July 2005 Lady Jay Dee won Best Female Video for South Africa. But most interesting of all Lady Jay Dee was the very first female vocalist to sing R & B in Swahili. Furthermore, Lady Jay Dee has collaborated with a number of other talented artists which include Samba Mapangala from the Congo, Chameleone from Uganda, Mad Ice from Uganda/Tanzania, Matonya from Tanzania and Mina Nawe from South Africa. Of special interest is that in March 2014 she signed up with international cosmetics brand Oriflame, Sweden, to be one of their brand ambassadors.

Lady Jay Dee has released four studio albums which include Machozi in 2000, Binti in 2003, Moto in 2005 and Shukrani in 2007. Lady Jay Dee has many awards and accolades under her belt – they are numerous but some of these include the 2004 Tanzania Music Awards as well as the 2012 Tanzania Music Awards for Best Female Singer. Lady Jay Dee has also been nominated for numerous other awards.
