Bobi Wine is an Afrobeat cum Dancehall musician who was born Ssettamu Kyagulanyi on the 12th February 1982 in Uganda in the Mpibi District, which is South West of Kampala. Baptised a Roman Catholic as Robert Kyagulanyi, he attended Makere University in Kamplala. Bobi Wine is a much-loved musician in Uganda embraced by many Ugandans from all walks of life and is affiliated with big names in the music world, the likes of Buchaman and Nubian Li who have often shared centre stage with him. A talented all-rounder, Bobi Wine is also an accomplished actor, starring in numerous local films known as Binayungandda. Bobi Wine’s music career: His music career began in the early part of 2000; his first singles included Akagoma, Funtula and Sunda which featured Ziggy D. Ziggy D’s presence soon brought the name of Bobi Wine into the public eye. Although at first a group member of the Fire Base Crew, he later created a new band by the name of Ghetto Republic of Uganja of which he is the leader.
