Local Kenyan Music

Perhaps the most dominant instrument used in the Local Kenyan Music scene is the guitar with rhythms often including a combination of imported beats and native sounds – this is especially the case with Congolesecavacha tunes with interplay of numerous parts often including complicated guitar solos.

Local Music in Kenya is often written either in Lingala or Swahili or one of the home-grown languages.

Since the 60’s Benga Music became a popular household choice where the world Benga means music either composed by using percussions, bass as well as a myriad of instruments. Needless to say, many styles of music prevail in Kenya – these are often Benga and Reggae.
